The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has approved a substantial increase in the basic power tariff, raising it by Rs7.12 per unit. Residential consumers will now face a revised basic tariff of Rs48.84 per unit.
Consumers using between 201 and 300 units of electricity will now pay Rs34.26 per unit. Those consuming between 301 and 400 units per month will see their rate rise by Rs7.02 per unit, bringing the new rate to Rs39.15.
For users consuming 401 to 500 units, the tariff has increased by Rs6.12 per unit, setting the new rate at Rs41.36 per unit. Consumers using 501 to 600 units and 601 to 700 units will also experience an increase of Rs6.12 per unit, with their rates now at Rs42.78 and Rs43.92 per unit, respectively.
However, it’s important to note that consumers using up to 200 units per month will remain exempt from this tariff adjustment. This move comes as part of ongoing efforts to address the financial challenges faced by the power sector.
