The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) on Friday approved an increase in the electricity price for for K-Electric consumers by Rs. 4.83 per unit.
According to the notification issued by NEPRA, the power tariff for K-Electric consumers have been increased by Rs. 4.83 per unit under the Fuel Charges Adjustment (FCA) for the month of March against the demand in hike of Rs. 5.27 per unit.
Furthermore, NEPRA said that it held a public hearing over the demand to hike the electricity prices for K-Electric consumers on April 27, where approval was given to increase the power tariff for March, which will be charges in the month of June.
Moreover, the Federal Government has also decided to increase the Electricity Prices by Rs. 7 per unit alongside privatization of profitable public-owned DISCOs on the demand of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the release of $1 billion tranche.
The hike in power tariff will be applicable from July 01.
