Nobel Peace Prize winner Malala Yousafzai recently made a memorable one-day trip to Shangla district, reconnecting with her roots in her native village of Barkana Shahpur.
The visit allowed her to spend quality time with family and inspire students at a school named in her honor.
Joined by her parents, Ziauddin Yousafzai and Toor Pekai, Malala traveled from Islamabad to her hometown by helicopter, with stringent security measures in place.
