The National Transmission and Dispatch Company (NTDC) has committed to maintain uninterrupted electricity distribution across the nation throughout the holy month of Ramadan.
Under the guidance of Managing Director Engr. Dr. Rana Abdul Jabbar Khan, the government-supported power transmission company is actively executing its comprehensive maintenance program for NTDC transmission lines and grid stations. This initiative aims to ensure consistent power delivery nationwide.
A company spokesperson revealed that NTDC teams are currently engaged in various tasks, including washing, cleaning, and replacing Disc Insulators as part of the maintenance program.
It was further disclosed that these efforts are geared towards enhancing the reliability of transmission lines and grid stations, thereby guaranteeing uninterrupted power supply during Ramadan. As part of the program, planned shutdowns have been scheduled for 500kV and 220kV transmission line circuits in the southern region.
During these shutdown periods, activities such as cleaning and washing insulators, tightening nuts and bolts on line hardware, and replacing disc insulators with RTV-coated disc insulators on Red, Yellow, and Blue phases have been carried out.
The spokesperson highlighted that a comprehensive maintenance effort has been undertaken, which includes washing/cleaning 73,493 disc insulators at 459 sites and replacing 9,804 disc insulators at 55 locations. Additionally, over 688 braces and 570 nuts and bolts have been installed. Moreover, at 220kV Grid Station Jhampir-1, two damaged disc insulator strings (132kV C.B E5Q1 and E7Q1 C.B Yellow Phase) were replaced, along with two healthy EMCO-Make disc insulator strings of 132kV C.B E7Q1, totaling four strings.
The spokesperson stressed that the General Manager (Asset Management-South) is overseeing the maintenance program. Additionally, the NTDC Managing Director has commended the performance of the relevant transmission line maintenance divisions and urged them to strictly adhere to the maintenance schedule.
