The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has denied reports of any fuel shortage in Pakistan in the coming days. According to the details, OGRA Spokesperson, Imran Ghaznavi, rejected news appearing on media about shortage of petrol and diesel in the country.
“Sufficient diesel stocks are available in the country to cater to the necessary demand,” Ghaznavi said in a statement. He added that reports about limited stocks of diesel in the country were “not correct.” after reports emerged on media that a shortage of petrol and diesel was expected in Pakistan in the coming days.
Earlier, the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC) had warned the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) that a shortage of petrol and diesel is expected due to the inadequate import and limited local availability of petroleum products.
The OCAC told OGRA that a product review highlighted a deficit of 210,000 MT of high-speed diesel (HSD) and 147,000 MT of petrol, which was conveyed to OMCs, but no commitments were made regarding import of sufficient fuel. Therefore, the increased demand and limited import would lead to a petrol and diesel shortage in Pakistan.
