The newly appointed Minister for Science and Technology Shibli Faraz has said that ventilators made in Pakistan were not useful as they did not perform their complete functions.
Shibli Faraz said that the National Radio and Telecommunication Corporation (NRTC) along with other private firms were manufacturing ventilators in Pakistan, however, these only fulfilled four out of the 16 required functions, rendering them useless.
It is pertinent to mention that his statement refuted the claims of ex-Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry, who has been made the Minister for Information during the recent cabinet reshuffle.
Fawad Chaudhry claimed that Pakistan had joined the ranks of those few countries which are producing their own ventilators while adding that “these are complicated machines and not a lot of countries in the world have the capacity to make it.”

The minister also talked about extending support to India during the COVID-19 crisis being faced in the neighboring country. “Government will do whatever we can for India to fight coronavirus. This is a matter of humanity. We have full sympathy with India,” he added.
