Pakistan Railways has increased the fares following the increase in prices of petroleum products across the country.
According to the details, the Pakistan Railways has increased the fares by eight percent with immediate effect and the new ticket prices will be applied to all trains and classes, excluding the newly launched Green Line.
In a statement, a Railway Spokesman added that increase in diesel prices have put an additional burden of Rs. 10 million per day on the Pakistan Railways, which is the reason behind increase in ticket prices.
It is pertinent to mention that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar had announced an increase of Rs. 35 per litre in the price of petroleum products in the country, which came into effect on 29 January 2023, a few days ahead of schedule.
