LAHORE: Pakistan Railways has decided to shut down Shalimar Express Train from 15th July 2020 due to financial losses.
Pakistan Railways spokesperson said that ‘The notification will be issued today [Monday] as Shalimar Express which runs between Karachi to Lahore is being shut down due to financial losses.

Shalimar Express Train was one the favourite and the fastest train linking two major destinations Karachi and Lahore before Greenline and Jinnah Express introduced.
Shalimar Express was handed over to private contractors and the fares went skyrocketing however the service was on time but the current government revoke the contract and commissioned the train once again.
Earlier on Saturday, Shalimar Express had collided with a freight train near Khanpur, Train Driver was slightly injured.
The incident took place hear Jetha Bhata Station, Overall all express and passenger including fright trains were delayed due to this accident.
The journey time from Karachi to Lahore was 18 hours which begins early in the morning 6 o clock in the morning and reaches the final destination by 12 midnight.
It was the only train which consist of Car Parlor AC coaches which were more alike Grand Bus or a plane.
From 15 July, 2020 Shalimar Express will be in a history only.
