Pakistan Railways has said tickets for train services to Balochistan will be suspended for the next three days due to law and order situation in the province.
Railways officials said the trains that would remain suspended include the Bolan Express which was due to depart from Karachi to Quetta.
Pakistani Railways chief Amir Ali Baloch also said that he was suspending both passenger and freight trains to Balochistan as a precaution. He said train operations could only be resume after security agencies cleared the line and the situation returned to normal.
Baloch stated that Pakistan Railways remains in constant collaboration with various national security agencies to keep track of the changing situation But he stopped short of discussing details of any security threats, instead talking about the organization organizational perception that it must protect passengers, railroad workers and the public.
Following a demand from security forces, a special train was sent to ferry the security personnel, who were heading to the site of the latest Jaffar Express incident in Sibi.
On the other hand, Deputy Station Manager Lahore Muhammad Asif said the schedule of Jaffar Express has also been changed and it will now leave Lahore for final destination at 5:30 PM on its way to Rohri/Sukkur instead of Quetta.
