Pakistan is once again facing slow internet services across the country with many users reporting degraded performance across various websites, especially social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and YouTube. According to the details, Pakistani internet users can expect to face slow and degraded internet services for the next two to three months, as per Pakistan Telecommunication Authority’s (PTA) Director-General Ahmed Shamim Pirzada.
Numerous users belonging to various cities throughout Pakistan, utilizing different Internet Service Providers (ISPs), are consistently reporting a decline in internet speed and different online services since the last few days. It is pertinent to mention that Pakistan suffered a major internet outage on 20 January 2024 with users across the country suffering from slow internet and completely unable to access social media platforms.
Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) issued a statement on social media regarding the internet outage. “The recent disruption in internet services was caused by a technical fault, which has been promptly rectified.” it stated, adding that internet services have been restored nationwide.

However, Director-General of Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA), Ahmed Shamim Pirzada, in a press conference, revealed that such outages may occur in the future as well. “You can face this for the next two or three months” stated the PTA’s DG.
