Pakistan’s Minister for State for Information Technology and Telecommunication said Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, recently visited Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and China. During these visits, he discussed how Information Technology (IT) can help Pakistan’s economy recover from its current crisis.
In China, a key agreement was signed with Huawei. This agreement aims to turn Islamabad into a smart city and make other cities safer. It also includes training for 300,000 young people. These training sessions will start next month.
Pakistan also plans to work with big IT companies like Google and Microsoft. The goal is to start training programs to teach thousands of young people important IT skills. The larger goal is to train 1.5 million IT-certified professionals over the next five years, who can help grow Pakistan’s economy.
The Ministry of IT’s DigiSkills program is very popular and provides IT training. Many people want to join, and the program is always full. The government plans to expand this program to allow more students to join.
A major problem for IT graduates is finding jobs. To solve this, the ministry started the Industry Academia Bridge program. This program allows industry experts to visit universities and teach students, helping them gain skills and increase their job opportunities.
Finally, new projects are starting, such as the Centre for Excellence in Gaming and a plan to support startups. The aim is to create an environment where every young person has equal chances to succeed and help Pakistan move forward.
