The Directorate General (DG) of Immigration and Passports has reduced the delivery time and delay for passports of all categories, bringing a relief to the applicants.
According to the notification issued by the DG, the delivery time for normal, urgent, and fast-track passports has been reduced by 10 days, four, days, and two days, respectively.
The new delivery time for passports with normal fee will be 10 days instead of one month, delivery with urgent fee will take 4 working days instead of 10, while delivery of passport under fast-track category will be done in 2 days instead of 5.

This will help reduce the backlog of passports, which exceeded 500,000 in the first week of April, and provide a much needed relief tot he applicants, especially individuals who require passport on a urgent basis.
It is pertinent to mention that despite the given delivery timings, the department failed to deliver passports within the stipulated period.
However, the DG has now assured that passport delivery process will be expedited and all passengers will get their passports on time.
