The Punjab Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued an important alert regarding the onset of a new monsoon rain spell across the province. the rainfall is anticipated to begin on the evening of August 14th and continue until August 18th, 2024.
Weather Forecast and Expected Heavy Rainfall
Under the influence of the prevailing weather system, Punjab is expected to experience rainfall starting from the evening of August 14th.
The PDMA has specifically forecasted rain accompanied by wind and thundershowers in the southern districts of Punjab.
These showers are predicted to occur intermittently between August 15th and 18th, with occasional breaks in the downpour.
Preparedness Measures
In light of this forecast, the PDMA has promptly issued alerts to all divisional and district administrations across Punjab. The authority has urged these administrations to remain vigilant and prepared to respond to any emergencies that may arise due to the expected rainfall.
Precautionary Measures to Stay Safe from Lightning:
- Avoid staying under open skies during thunderstorms.
- If you are outside, take shelter in a building or a car.
- Unplug electrical appliances and keep a safe distance from electrical outlets.
- Avoid touching metal objects during a storm.
- If you are in an open area, sit in a crouched position with your hands on your knees.
- Stay at least 30 meters away from tall objects like trees, poles, etc.
