Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) has banned / prohibited any speeches or press conferences of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and Former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, from being aired on TV channels.
The regulator said that the decision was made in response to his speeches made during the long march and the press conference held on November 4, a day after he was shot during an assassination attempt at Wazirabad in Gujranwala.
The notification added that PTI chairman, Imran Khan, had made baseless allegations against state institutions of orchestrating an assassination plan and the contents of his speech were being rebroadcast on TV channels, adding that it may create hatred and disturb public peace.
Therefore, in order to maintain law and order, PEMRA has prohibited TV channels from airing any speeches or press conference of former Prime Minister, Imran Khan.
