PESHAWAR: At least seven people were killed and more than 100 injured in a bomb blast inside a Madrassa at Dil Colony area of Peshawar according to KP Police.
On getting information about the incident, police and rescue teams arrived on the spot and shifted the injured to Lady Reading Hospital (LHR) where at least five victims are said to be in critical condition.
KP health minister Taimur Khan Jhagra confirmed that LHR received seven dead bodies and 70 injured while some patients were shifted to other medical facilities.
According to the initial reports by police, an improvised explosive device (IED) was used with up to five kilogrammes of explosives and ball bearings in the Peshawar blast.
Prime Minister Imran Khan strongly condemned the attack and offered condolences to the victims’ families along with prayers for speedy recovery of those injured.
The premier also ensured that those responsible will be brought to justice saying:
I want to assure my nation we will ensure the terrorists responsible for this cowardly barbaric attack are brought to justice asap
Chief Minister of Punjab Usman Buzdar also offered his condolences and prayers to the victims families and those injured in the Peshawar blast.
The opposition also offered their condolences and expressed their sadness over the tragic incident in Peshawar.
