To curb incidents of mobile phone snatching and the trade of stolen devices, the Capital City Police Peshawar unveiled a new mobile application named FMC (Find My Cell Phone) on Thursday.
As part of this initiative, a specialized form has been introduced for the registration of mobile dealers. This involves verification by both the Presidents of the Mobile Dealers Association and the Station House Officer (SHO) of the relevant police station. The established procedure, initially implemented in Peshawar, is anticipated to extend to the entire province in the future.
The formal launch of the mobile app took place at a special ceremony held at Malik Saad Shaheed Police Line Peshawar, with the Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Peshawar, Syed Ashfaq AG, IT expert Irfan Khan, and SSP Operations Kashif Aftab Abbasi officiating.
The newly introduced system will be accessible to all police stations within the district as well as registered mobile phone dealers. In accordance with the procedure, the bio-data of the phone set seller, encompassing details such as name, father’s name, mobile number, national identity card number, and a photo of the seller, will be stored. Additionally, the EMEI and data related to stolen mobile phones will be automatically transmitted to registered dealers, reaching police authorities, the police control, and relevant police stations in the form of an alert.
