ISLAMABAD: The Government has announced a reduction in petrol and diesel prices by Rs8.47 and Rs6.7 per litre, respectively.
The new prices, effective from August 14, 2024 to August 31, 2024 are Rs 260.69 per litre for petrol and Rs 266.07 per litre for diesel, according to a statement from the government.
Initially, there were expectations that the prices of petrol and diesel would decrease by Rs11 and Rs7 per litre, respectively. However, the final decision, made by the Ministry of Finance after consultation with the Prime Minister’s Office, resulted in slightly lower reductions.
The adjustment in fuel prices comes as part of the regular review conducted on the 1st and 16th of every month, where the government either increases or decreases prices for the following 15 days, only this time made an exception.
