Petrol Prices in Pakistan are expected to get a massive hike from 1 September 2023 due to increase in global oil rates and depreciation of Pakistani Rupee (PKR) against the US Dollar (USD) in recent weeks.
According to reports, the Price of Petrol in Pakistan might go up by Rs. 12 per litre, while High-Speed Diesel (HSD) might get an increase of Rs. 15 per litre. This is going to trigger another wave of inflation in the country, making lives of masses even more miserable.
In the last fortnight review, the caretaker Government had raised the Petrol Prices in Pakistan by up to Rs. 20 per litre. Currently, the Petrol Price in Pakistan is Rs. 290.45 per litre, while High-Speed Diesel (HSD) is being sold for Rs. 293.40 per litre.
Petrol Prices in Pakistan From 16 August 2023
PRODUCT | NEW PRICE (PKR) |
---|---|
Petrol | 290.45 |
High Speed Diesel (HSD) | 293.40 |
However, the caretaker Government may reduce the expected increase in the Price of Petroleum Products as it is facing extreme criticism alongside widespread protests in different parts of the country over inflated electricity bills.
As a result, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) has announced a nationwide shutter-down strike on September 2 and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has called for nationwide protests against the high electricity bills.
