Federal Minister, Ishaq Dar, has announced an increase in the Petrol Prices in Pakistan effective immediately (29 January 2023 to 15 February 2023). According to the Federal Minister, the Price of Petroleum Products, including Petrol, High-Speed Diesel (HSD), Light Diesel Oil (LDO), and Kerosene Oil has been increased on an immediate basis for the remainder of the month and the next fortnight.
According to the announcement, the Petrol Price in Pakistan has been increased by Rs. 35 per litre, while the Price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) has been jacked up by Rs. 35 per litre as well for the first first half of February 2023. Likewise, the Price of Kerosene Oil and Light Diesel Oil (LDO) has also been risen by Rs. 18 per litre, respectively.
This brings the new Petrol Price in Pakistan at Rs. 249.80 per litre, while the Price of High-Speed Diesel (HSD) will now be Rs. 262.80. Meanwhile, the Price of Kerosene Oil will be Rs. 189.83 per litre and Price of Light Diesel Oil (LDO) has reached Rs. 187.00 per litre.

The Latest Diesel and Petrol Prices in Pakistan have become effective from 29 January 2023 for the for the remainder of the month and the first half of next month and fortnight till 15 February 2023.

Ishaq Dar said that reason behind the sudden increase in the Petrol Prices in Pakistan was to prevent temporary hoarding and speculations about a Petrol Shortage in Pakistan. The Federal Minister had admitted that speculations had created an artificial shortage in the market.
He added that increase in petroleum prices was also the result of 11% increase in the price of crude oil in the international market.
It is pertinent to mention that Shehbaz Sharif-led Government had also maintained the Petrol and Diesel Price in Pakistan during the last fortnight.
