The caretaker federal government will likely keep the petrol prices in Pakistan unchanged for the next fortnight starting 1 January 2024.
According to the details, the petrol prices in Pakistan are expected to remain unchanged as exchange rate has stayed range-bound with only minor improvement. Meanwhile, the same goes for international oil prices, which have not seen a significant reduction to allow for revision in the price of petroleum products.
However, there are some reports suggesting that a reduction in petrol price of up to Rs. 2.00 per litre might be on the cards. The government will announce the new petrol prices in Pakistan on 31 December 2023 (Sunday) before the start of the new year.
During the last fortnight review, the caretaker federal government announced a reduction in the petrol price by Rs. 14.00 per litre, while the price of high-speed diesel (HSD) was slashed by Rs. 13.50 per litre. This brought the new prices for both commodities at Rs. 267.34 and Rs. 276.21, respectively.
