The Pakistan International Airline (PIA) spokesperson confirmed that national carrier’s flight operation is returning to normal after restoration of fuel supply from the Pakistan State Oil (PSO).
He added that PIA was operating 48 flights today, which included 32 international flights and 16 domestic flights. The spokesperson said that PIA has paid Rs. 500 million so far to the PSO to restore fuel supply and continues to make daily payments.
At the moment, PIA is acquiring fuel for profitable routes, which include Saudi Arabia, Canada, China, Kuala Lumpur, Dubai and others so they don’t get disrupted again. Meanwhile, the company is trying to restore the remaining flight operations as well.
Earlier on Wednesday, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had suspended 24 flights, including 16 international flights and 8 domestic flights due to shortage of fuel. Meanwhile, Pakistan State Oil (PSO) set a condition of Rs. 100 million in daily payments to restore fuel supply to the PIA.
It is pertinent to mention that despite PIA’s claims to restore a somewhat normal flight operation, local media outlets have reported that the national carrier has canceled several flights on Friday, including 14 of those scheduled to and from Karachi.
