Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) continues to cancel flights due to unavailability of fuel despite a spokesperson claiming that flight operations were returning to normal after the carrier paid Rs. 500 million to the Pakistan State Oil (PSO).
According to the details, the PIA cancelled 26 flights on Sunday as the national carrier was unable to arrange fuel due to its current financial situation. Furthermore, the airline cancelled flights between Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, and a number of other cities.
PIA’s administration says that it is working on the issues and expects that fuel supply will be restored soon, Geo News stated in a report. It added that passengers who faced slight cancellations are being provided alternate flights.
On Friday, the PIA spokesperson said that flight operations were returning back to normal as it has secured funds for fuel supply.
