Islamabad: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has initiated a series of special flights to Najaf, Iraq, to accommodate Shia pilgrims during the upcoming Ashura, which commemorates the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA).
Dubbed “Operation Ashura,” the initiative began on July 5, with additional flights scheduled for July 7 and July 11.
This special operation aims to ensure that Shia pilgrims can travel conveniently and safely to Najaf for the significant religious observance.
PIA has also planned the return operations to begin on July 20, with flights on July 21 and July 25 to bring pilgrims back from Najaf.
“Operation Ashura” is designed to provide a seamless travel experience for pilgrims, ensuring their safe return after the religious events. This strategic move highlights PIA’s commitment to supporting religious travelers during important observances.
