Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced free flour (ata) to 15.8 million households in Punjab during the month of Ramazan to relief the burden of skyrocketing inflation.
According to the details, the Prime Minister chaired a meeting to review the distribution of free flour under the Government’s Ramazan Package.
He added that it was going to be the first time in the history of Pakistan that a Ramazan Package was going to provide free flour (ata) to the needy people.
The distribution of the ration under the Ramazan Package will begin from 25th of Sha’ban and continue till 25th Ramadan via 8,500 convenience stores across the country.
Furthermore, the Government will also set up an additional 20,000 flour distribution points in order to facilitate the citizens.
The Prime Minister has directed authorities to ensure there is complete transparency in the distribution of free flour to the deserving people through use of modern technology in order to curb any theft.
He added that an SMS service would be set up to check eligibility for the free wheat flour that will be distributed to residents of Punjab.
The premier also said that Federal Government would assist other provinces in similar programmes.
