Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced that there will be no new duty imposed on solar panels. He emphasized the PML-N government’s commitment to ensuring access to renewable solar energy for all people.
This announcement comes amid reports about changes in solar policy that have caused concern among Pakistanis who invested their hard-earned money in green energy.
PM Shehbaz made this statement during a federal cabinet meeting, where he stressed the importance of affordable renewable solar energy for all Pakistanis, especially given the rising utility bills.
He also reiterated plans to boost the economy by enhancing exports and developing small and medium-sized industries. The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s priority of economic security and equal development for all citizens. He stated that privileges for the elite and those exploiting the country’s resources would be abolished.
During the meeting, the federal cabinet also approved the presentation of the National Economic Council’s 2022-23 annual report in Parliament and ratified decisions from various committee meetings.
