Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed to reduce the electricity and gas prices to provide relief to the people on sustainable basis.
He chaired a high level meeting on Monday to discuss reducing the electricity and gas prices in order to provide relief to consumers.
The meeting was attended by the Minister for Energy Omar Ayub Khan, Advisor on Finance Abdul Hafeez Sheikh and Minister for Planning and Developement Asad Umar.

According to the Prime Minister, the previous government had made arrangements and agreements that were made illogically without putting the interest of the country into consideration.
This resulted in expensive electricity and increasing circular debt however, the Prime Minister was told that steps have been taken to prevent power theft and has resulted in an income of Rs. 122 billion.
It was informed that the monthly increase in circular debt of Rs. 38 billion had been reduced to a monthly increase of Rs. 12 billion and it would be brought down to zero by the end of this year.
PM Imran said that right now the top priority of the government was to provide relief to the people especially in the low income segment.
On his directives, proposals were made to reduce prices for electricity and gas for the domestic and industrial consumers and Special Assistant to Prime Minister (SAPM) Nadeem Babar also made suggestions on long term plan to reduce the price of gas.
