Prime Minister Imran Khan has said that the government will take steps to ensure that prices for all basic food items are reduced so that relieve can be provided to the common man.
He add that everyone involved and responsible for the hike in prices of sugar and flour will be punished and the appropriate government agencies were working on the matter.
PM Imran tweeted on Tuesday saying:
I understand the difficulties ordinary people including salaried class are confronting and have decided, come what may, my government will be announcing various measures that will be taken to reduce prices of basic food items for the common man in Cabinet on Tuesday,
He also made another tweet along with that saying:
At the same time all the relevant govt Agencies have begun doing an in-depth probe into the flour & sugar price hikes. The nation should rest assured that all those responsible will be held accountable & penalised.

Sugar prices rose rose as high as Rs. 64 per kg and even higher in some areas of the country where it was being sold at a wholesale rate of up to Rs. 74 per kg and the reason was this was reportedly a shortage of sugar in the market.
Followed by sugar, even flour prices started to go up because of the same reason with it being sold for Rs. 70 across Karachi, Hyderabad and Lahore and even more in some remote areas of Sindh and Punjab with people having to wait in long ques.
For now, PM Imran has halted the export of 350,000 tons of sugar and said that only 300,000 will be exported through the private sector.
On Saturday the Prime Minister took notice of the rising prices and said that the government will go any extent to provide relief to the common man with basic commodities.
