ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan has finally taken notice of various rape incidents in the country following the latest Lahore motorway incident that has been trending on Twitter.
The notice has been taken after a woman was gang raped at Lahore motorway near Gujjarpura in front of her children by two unknown assailants who then robbed her of all valuables fleeing the scene.

A tweet from the Prime Minister’s Office states that PM Imran had taken “stern notice” recent rape cases following the Lahore motorway incident that took place on Wednesday.
According to the Prime Minister, the protection of women is the first priority and the responsibility of the government. Such act cannot be allowed as they are are a violation of our social values and disgrace to society
Prime Minister Imran Khan has requested a report of the two recent incidents from the concerned IGs and instructed that the culprits be brought to justice as soon as possible.
The other recent incident involved a five-year-old girl named Marwah being murdered after she was kidnapped and raped in the Essa Nagri area of Karachi.

CCPO Lahore to lead investigation
CCPO Lahore Umar Sheikh was put in charge of the investigation into the Lahore motorway rape incident according to Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Political Communication Dr Shahbaz Gill.
According to Dr Shahbaz Gill, CCPO Lahore was made the lead in the investigation on the instructions of Chief Minister Usman Buzdar after the incident came to his notice.
CCPO Lahore blames rape victim for Lahore motorway incident
However, CCPO Lahore Umar Sheikh in a statement on television resorted to victim blaming when he said that it was the woman’s fault for traveling alone at night on the selected route.
People have shown anger towards the statement of CCPO Lahore blaming the rape victim of the Lahore motorway incident. They are demanding that the officer be removed from his post.
