The outgoing caretaker Prime Minister (PM), Anwaar ul Haq Kakar, says that X (formerly Twitter) is open in Pakistan with no restrictions on the platform.
In an interview with Urdu News, the interim PM stated that no restrictions were placed on social media platform X in Pakistan.
The statement came as a response to the interviewer’s question asking about when the services of X will be restored in the country.
PM Kakar added that is X is experiencing any problems due to a technical glitch, it will be resolved by the new government after it assumes power.
It is pertinent to mention that X (formerly known as Twitter) was blocked in Pakistan on February 17 after Rawalpindi’s Commissioner admitted to involvement in the rigging of election results.
The platform remains restricted despite Sindh High Court’s (SHC) orders to restore its services across the country.
The PM’s statement about the upcoming government fixing any technical faults with X is unclear, as government departments have not been on vacation waiting for the new government to take power.
Hopefully, we are going to see access to X restored in the coming days or weeks.
