Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will announce a relief package for those who can’t afford the new prices of petrol in Pakistan, said Finance Minister Miftah Ismail.
Finance Minister, Miftah Ismail, announced a massive increase in the price of petroleum products last night in order to restore the International Monetary Fund (IMF) programme to boost the economy.
The decision to increase the price of petrol was taken in light of the IMF guidelines, as the global lender insisted on the removal of the petroleum subsidies in order to restart the loan program, which was much needed by the country during this difficult time.
Miftah Ismail blamed the Former Prime Minister, Imran Khan, for the current economic problems being faced by the country.
However, the Finance Minister highlighted that petrol prices in Pakistan are still less compared to other countries, especially India.
