A Sub-Inspector of Punjab Police Fahad Iftikhar Virk has tendered his resignation after being verbally abused at the hands of CCPO Lahore Umar Sheikh during an official meeting.
Trainee Sup-Inspector (TSI) Fahad Iftikhar Virk told media that he was insulted during an official meeting chaired by CCPO Lahore and asked to leave for answering a question in English.

According to TSI Fahad Iftikhar Virk, the CCPO Lahore Umar Sheikh, asked him a question and as he proceeded answering in English, it angered the officer who ended up verbally abusing Virk calling him a “khotay ka bacha [son of a donkey]” and asking him to get out of the meeting.
Following the insult, TSI Fahad Iftikhar Virk tendered his resignation which read:
With due reverences it is submitted that, I can’t serve in this department furthermore please accept my resignation.
TSI Fahad Iftikhar Virk was a hardworking member of the Punjab Police and had studied aboard in the United States where he got his MPhil degree in Environmental Chemistry.
According to Virk, he joined the police as it was his passion and he was placed at number 10 of the merit list after he appeared in the competitive examination of the Punjab Public Service Commission.
It is pertinent to mention that CCPO Lahore was previously criticized for blaming the victim of the Lahore motorway gang rape incident and saying it was her fault for what happened as she should not have been travelling alone.
A show cause notice was also issued to the CCPO Umar Sheikh and he was to issue a response regarding the victim blaming statement within seven days. However, no response has been received by the officer after two weeks.
