Islamabad: Attention afthe political parks and the contesting candidates for election to the seats in the National Assembly and the Provincial Assemblies is drawn to section 182 of the Elections Act, 2017, which provides that no person shall convene, hold or attend any public meeting and no person shall promote or join in any procession within the area of the constituency during a period of forty-eight hours ending at midnight following the conclusion tithe poll. Any person who contravenes these provisions of law shall be punishable with imprisonment fora term which may extend to two years or with fine which may extend to one hundred thousand rupees or with both.
The election campaign for General Elections 2018 on electronic and press media shall therefore, come to an end throughout the country with effect from the midnight falling between the 23rd and 24th July, 2018.
Similarly, electronic/print media shall also avoid telecasting/publishing advertisements or such written material for the purpose of political campaign which tends to malign or favour a particular political paW or a candidate during the said period.
