In a bid to provide relief to commuters in the twin cities, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday inaugurated the much-awaited Green Line and Blue Line metro bus services in Islamabad. This is the first interconnected four-line metro service in the country and it will provide relief to the commuters of the twin cities.
Addressing the launch ceremony, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said the metro service is a gift to the residents of the twin cities and will serve the common man, students and workers plying on the routes as the service will connect Bhara Kahu, GT Road, Koral and Rawalpindi through the Green Line, Blue Line, and Red Line metro bus services.
The metro bus service will run from Bhara Kahu to PIMS (Green Line) and from Koral to PIMS (Blue Line) with the two lines merging with the Red Line from the Faiz Ahmed Bus Stop, while the passengers can take the Orange Line to the Islamabad International Airport.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that a decent and on-time transportation service was the need of the common man and lauded the efforts of the Interior Ministry and the Chairman of the Capital Development Authority (CDA). Meanwhile, he announced free transportation services to commuters using these services for one month.
