Asad Qaiser, while addressing the media, has said that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder, Imran Khan, has nominated party’s secretary general, Omar Ayub Khan, as a candidate for the post of prime minister (PM). Imran Khan, who recently named Ali Amin Gandapur as Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, said on Wednesday his party will soon announce its prime minister candidate.
In the media address after the visit to Adiala Jail, Asad Qaiser declared that Omar Ayub Khan will be PTI’s candidate for the Prime Minister (PM) post. He has also been given the task of engaging in political dialogue with different parties, JUI-F, ANP, Aftab Sherpao’s party and others, about the formation of the government at the center.
Qaiser articulated his concerns over rigging in the February 8 elections and claimed that the people’s mandate given to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) had been undermined through the manipulation of the polls.
Omar Ayub Khan, an independent contender endorsed by PTI, clinched the election for National Assembly constituency NA-18, Haripur, with 192,948 votes. According to the unofficial results of the Returning Officer / Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the runner up who got 112,389 votes was Babar Nawaz Khan of Pakistan Muslim League (N).
