LAHORE: The Government of Punjab has announced new business timings amid the growing number of coronavirus cases to avoid a second wave in the province.
The decision was taken in a high level meeting chaired by Punjab Law Minister Raja Basharat where discussion took place on the coronavirus situation in the country and the implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs).
In order to control the resurgence of the coronavirus, Punjab government issued new business timings from 8am till 10pm throughout the week. However, essential businesses such as grocery stores, medical stores, clinics, petrol pumps, tire shops etc will be allowed to operate 24/7.
It is pertinent to mention that earlier Punjab government removed all restrictions on business timings in the province allowing operations 24/7 after the decline in the number of coronavirus cases.
However, medical experts have already warned of a second wave which would prove even deadlier than the first. In order to avoid a resurgence, the Punjab government ended up issuing new working hours for businesses.
In other news, Punjab Government has also issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) for Muharram gatherings and processions in order to avoid the spread of coronavirus and keep infections under control.
