The Punjab Cabinet has approved an underground train system (being dubbed as the Underground Mass Transit System) for Lahore alongside approval to incorporate underground blue-line and purple-line as well as the mass transit project as part of their Annual Development Programme (ADP).
According to the details, the decision was taken during the sixth cabinet meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Chaudhry Pervez Elahi.
Chief Minister Pervez Elahi said that Punjab Government would introduce the underground train system, blue-line, purple line, and mass transit project in Lahore with the cooperation of the Asian Development Bank (ADP), adding that said project would be built on Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) basis without any cost to the provincial government.
The underground train system or Underground Mass Transit System will be built from Valencia to Kalma Chowk, Liberty Chowk, Data Darbar, and reach the Allama Iqbal International Airport. Furthermore, there will be eight big stations of Orange Line developed as well.
