The e-balloting for the Punjab Bikes Scheme 2024 was conducted last week, and the list of successful candidates has been released. The government received a total of 72,640 applications by the deadline of May 1, 2024, from eligible students in Faisalabad, Multan, Bahawalpur, Rawalpindi, and Lahore. Of these, 57,370 applications were for petrol bikes and 15,270 for e-bikes.
Under the scheme, 19,000 petrol motorcycles and 1,000 electric bikes will be distributed among students selected through balloting. The scheme includes a dedicated quota for female students. Specifically, out of the 19,000 petrol bikes, 11,676 are allocated for male students and 7,324 for female students. For the 1,000 electric bikes, 700 are reserved for male students and 300 for female students.
Post-Balloting Process
Following the e-balloting, the financial scrutiny of the guarantor/co-borrower will be carried out by the Bank of Punjab (BOP). During this post-balloting scrutiny, BOP may request additional documentation. Only students whose financial scrutiny by BOP is satisfactory will be declared successful in receiving the bikes. Applicants must provide the necessary documentation with their online application for this purpose.
Bike Delivery Process
Upon receiving payment, the vendor or dealership will either book the bike or, if available, inform BOP of its chassis and engine numbers for insurance purposes. After receiving this information, BOP will arrange insurance, issue a delivery order in the name of the concerned dealership, and hand over the delivery order to the student for bike collection.
Punjab Bikes Scheme 2024 Delivery Date
The Punjab government has not yet officially announced the delivery date for the bikes. However, it is expected that the delivery process will start before the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25, following the completion of all procedures by the Bank of Punjab.
