The Punjab government has set the date for the balloting of the Punjab Bike Scheme, a project initiated by CM Maryam Nawaz to assist deserving students. Punjab Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan led a meeting to review the progress of the scheme, which aims to provide 20,000 bikes to deserving students.
The meeting highlighted the overwhelming response from students, with over 100,000 applications received, indicating strong interest. The balloting for 20,000 bikes is scheduled for May 10 (tomorrow). It is important to note that CM Maryam Nawaz introduced the project under the Chief Minister Youth Initiative on April 12, aiming to provide 20,000 bikes.
Through this initiative, students can obtain motorcycles and e-bikes through convenient monthly installment plans. Male students have the option to pay Rs 11,676 per month, while female students can avail the offer at Rs 7,325 per month.
The quota will be evenly divided between male and female students in urban areas, with 50/50 percent allocation. In rural areas, 70 percent of the quota will be reserved for male students and 30 percent for female students. In Lahore, the distribution of motorcycles will be based on the population density of each district, ensuring fair access for students across the region.
