The caretaker Chief Minister of Punjab, Mohsin Naqvi, has once again delayed the date for hike in driving license fee, which was scheduled to take effect today (January 9, 2024).
According to the details, the date for driving license fee hike has been extended to January 16, 2024, providing a temporary relief to citizens.
It is pertinent to mention that Punjab has announced a a hike of 1566% in the driving license fee for both cars and motorcycles, taking it from Rs. 60 to Rs. 1,000.
Furthermore, the Government of Punjab has made process of obtaining a learner driving license extremely easy from the comfort of your own home.
You can now use the DLMIS 2.0 service via the Punjab Police’s website at https://dlims.punjab.gov.pk/ and apply for a learner driving license online. Furthermore, the Punjab Police has also added the feature to renew your learner’s permit if it has been expired.
Moreover, Punjab citizens can also renew their driving licenses online for one, three, five, or ten years. Meanwhile, an international driving license has a fixed validity of three years. The online renewal of licenses means that citizens no longer have to take repeated physical driving tests.
However, everyone over the age of 65 years needs to provide a complete medical check-up and take the physical driving test in order to obtain their license.
