With the enforcement of Section 144, several restrictions have been put in place within the city limits. These include a ban on pillion riding, aerial firing, political gatherings, sit-ins, rallies, and protests. Additionally, the use of drones, laser lights, and the release of pigeons has also been prohibited, as outlined in the official notification. These measures will remain in effect until October 17.
The government emphasized that these decisions were made to ensure the safety and security of citizens during the summit. Notably, law enforcement personnel are exempt from these restrictions.
In preparation for the summit, the Punjab government has instructed all government hospitals in Rawalpindi to remain on high alert. A letter from the Punjab Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department urged hospitals to make necessary arrangements ahead of the SCO meeting, responding to requests from the federal government.
As the region gears up for the high-profile event, authorities are taking extensive measures to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of proceedings, highlighting the significance of the SCO summit for Pakistan’s international relations.
