The Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare, Kh Imran Nazir, announced the upcoming launch of the ‘Health Facility at Doorstep’ program, driven by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz’s vision. This initiative aims to bring healthcare services closer to people.
Under the Health Facility at Doorstep program, various medical tests, such as ultrasounds and screenings for diseases like hepatitis and diabetes, will be conducted at people’s homes. Additionally, medications for these illnesses will also be delivered directly to patients’ doorsteps. To facilitate this, a system for the delivery of insulin and other necessary drugs has been developed.
During a meeting chaired by Kh Imran Nazir and attended by Provincial Health Minister Kh Salman Rafiq, the focus was on ensuring the availability of diabetes medicines, particularly insulin. The meeting assessed the readiness of insulin supplies for diabetic patients.
Various officials, including Secretary Health Ali Jan Khan, and medical professionals like Dr. Adnan, Dr. Zahid Pervez, and Dr. Usman, were present at the meeting. It was emphasized that there is an ample supply of insulin in hospitals, and efforts will be made to encourage international companies to produce high-quality insulin in Punjab. To oversee this endeavor, a technical committee will be established.
Kh Salman Rafique highlighted the Chief Minister’s dedication to improving access to medical services. He mentioned plans to provide basic healthcare facilities to underserved areas through mobile clinics in slums and rural communities. Moreover, ongoing efforts to upgrade government hospitals were noted, indicating swift progress in enhancing healthcare infrastructure.
In summary, the ‘Health Facility at Doorstep’ program aims to make healthcare more accessible by offering medical tests and delivering medications directly to people’s homes. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to improving healthcare services across Punjab.
