The Punjab Police has proposed a massive hike in the driving license fee with an aim to boost revenue and enhance road safety measures.
According to the details, the Inspector General (IG) of Punjab has submitted a summary to the provincial government and proposed to increase the driving license fee across all categories.
If the proposal is accepted and approved, there will be a significant hike in the fee for various driving licenses.
After approval, the motorcycle driving license fee will be increased from Rs. 550 to Rs. 2,000, which is a hike of 263.64%. Meanwhile, the LTV license fee will see a jump from Rs. 950 to Rs. 4,000, an increase of 321.05%.
Likewise, an HTV license will cost Rs. 4,000 from the previous fee of Rs. 450, which is an increase of 788.89%. Moreover, a learner’s permit will cost Rs. 500 instead of Rs. 60, which is an adjustment of 733.33%.
Furthermore, it bears mentioning that Punjab’s driving license fee hike will not be limited to domestic license and will also include international driving license, which will cost Rs. 4,000.
