The students of Punjab University in Lahore blocked the canal road to protest the daylight killing of a fellow student on Thursday.
The protest caused a major traffic jam on one of Lahore’s busiest roads, as police tried to negotiate with the demonstrators to clear the area.
According to reports, a student named Ammar was shot by unidentified attackers on campus. Despite being rushed to the hospital, he did not survive.
The incident has created tension at the university. Students gathered on the campus bridge, blocking the underpass and Canal Road completely.
The protesters condemned the use of firearms, saying the attack happened in broad daylight and blamed both the police and university administration for failing to ensure their safety. This marks the second shooting incident on campus in a month.
