After intense rain last night, Khanpur city, in Rahim Yar Khan Tehsil, punjab is flooded with rain water and no government machinery was visible on the scene to rescue the residents or drain out the water.
The residents of Khanpur are enduring harsh conditions, with streets now completely submerged, resembling a war-torn Syrian town. Sadly, the Punjab government is neglecting Khanpur due to political disputes, leaving the citizens to suffer as a result.
The Khanpur resident claims that the roads is completely submerged and that people have to walk from the nearby graveyard to escape the rain water, even overflows the graveyards, filling the tombs with water.
A local resident Bial Qureshi shared a video of the graveyard after the heavy rain.
People are forced to cross the water because none of the underpasses are above water.
The Punjab government is known for its prompt and effective emergency response times in major city like Lahore, however the PDMA response has not yet been observed.
The Punjab government is under pressure from the locals to respond quickly after the recent rains damaged nearly the whole city; PDMA must dispatch assistance.
In the meantime, in half an hour Following last night’s intense rain, Rescue 1122 personnel in Rahim Yar Khan are actively working to drain the rainwater and clear the streets with the assistance of the local municipality.
