The Lahore High Court (LHC) directed relevant authorities to issue a notification implementing a two-day work-from-home (WFH) policy each week to curb the worsening smog situation in the provincial capital.

This decision was made during a hearing on a petition addressing the issue of smog. Justice Shahid Karim, presiding over the hearing, expressed concern that the government had neglected his previous directive for a two-day closure.
Consequently, Justice Shahid Karim instructed the public prosecutor to issue a work-from-home notification for two days weekly.
Earlier, the LHC had mandated the closure of all educational institutions in Punjab on Saturdays until the end of January as a measure to combat smog. Justice Shahid Karim, in a written order responding to citizens’ petitions regarding air pollution, directed the provincial government to issue a notification enforcing the closure of schools, colleges, and universities on Saturdays until the last week of January.
The order also emphasized the government’s responsibility to facilitate a two-day work-from-home arrangement as part of measures to address the smog issue.
