LAHORE: Transporters say that they will not resume public transport in Punjab from Monday until the government issues new standard operating procedures (SOPs) for controlling the spread of the coronavirus.
According to the Public and Goods Transport Alliance Chairman Asmatullah Niazi, the standard operating procedures decided upon with the government are not the finalized ones that were issued.

He says, that the transporters will not reduce fares by 20 percent as directed by the government since they have already suffered huge losses and cannot manage with the reduced fair.
Niazi even said that the Punjab Government should also reduce fares for toll plazas by 50 percent and renegotiate the standard operating procedures to suit the needs of transporters or public transport in Punjab will not be resumed.
