Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that the project of Quaid-e-Azam Solar Energy Park in Bahawalpur will bring an investment of more than Rs. 200 billion in the area which is the biggest investment in the history of the country. The Chief Minister said that 1000 megawatt electricity will be generated in the first phase of solar energy park spread over an area of 11 thousand acres whereas the supply of hundred megawatt solar energy will be started before March 31, 2014. He was addressing a gathering of people and elites of the area after inspecting the site of Quaid-e-Azam Solar Energy Park and briefing, at Mouza Noorsar district Bahawalpur Saturday.
Shahbaz Sharif said that the electricity to be generated from solar energy park set up at Bahawalpur will be provided not only to Bahawalpur but other districts of South Punjab and the entire Punjab will benefit from this historic project. He said that 11 thousand acre land will be allocated for Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park and will not be allowed to be used for any other purposes. He said that local youth will be given preference for the jobs in Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park. Shahbaz Sharif announced that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will soon lay the foundation of this gigantic project. Shahbaz Sharif said that Nawab Sir Sadiq Muhammad Khan Abbasi was an enlightened leader of this area who carried out invaluable development work in this area.
Earlier, Commissioner Bahawalpur Capt. Retd. Asad Ullah Khan, Provincial Secretary Energy and Secretary Communication gave briefings about the project. Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination and Tourism, Mian Riaz Hussain Pirzada, Minister of State for Education Baligh-ur-Rehman, Provincial Minister for Cooperatives Malik Iqbal Channar, Provincial Minister for Energy Sher Ali, Members National and Provincial Assemblies Ali Hassan Gillani, Parveen Masood Bhatti, Najib-ud-Din Awaisi, Shoaib Awaisi, Sabeeha Nazir, Afzal Gill, Khalid Jajja, Qazi Adanan Farid, Khalid Waran, Iftikhar Gillani, Fouzia Ayub Qureshi, Haseena Begum,PML-N eader Saood Majeed, Sami Ullah Ch. and others were present.
Meanwhile, CM inaugurated newly constructed 125 bedded District Headquarters Hospital and computerized Land Record Information Centre at Lodhran. The district headquarters hospital is spread over an area of 170 kanal and has been constructed at a cost of Rs.50 crore. After inauguration of the hospital, the Chief Minister inspected its various wards.
After inauguration of computerized land record information centre, the Chief Minister while expressing his satisfaction over the arrangements said that due to the historic steps of PML-N, people will rid of the painful and obsolete system of centuries and will get the Fard of land within 30 minutes.
Later, addressing a public meeting at New Sports Stadium Lodhran, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif said that Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park being set up at Bahawalpur will help overcome energy crisis and provide new job opportunities to the people of the area. He said that land record computerization work will be completed in 36 districts of the Punjab at a cost of Rs.11 billion till 2014.
Members National Assembly Abdul Rehman Khan Kanju, Siddique Khan Baloch, Members Provincial Assembly Zubair Khan Baloch, Amir Iqbal Shah, Malik Sajjad Hussain Joya, Sultan Jehangir Bhutta, and Ahmed Khan Baloch, Chairman Punjab Bait-ul- Mal Suleman Mangla and President Muslim League-N Lodhran Tahir Amir Ghauri were also present on this occasion.
