RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) launched a decisive operation against unauthorized commercial structures in Sherpao Colony and Saidpur Housing Scheme on Tuesday, reinforcing its commitment to upholding urban planning regulations.
Led by Director General Kinza Murtaza, the RDA Enforcement Squad took action against multiple properties found in violation of approved building plans. In Sherpao Colony, the team demolished a shack and a shop located on Plot No. 17, while in Saidpur Housing Scheme, they sealed off Medical Company Zeb Distributors and Shah Cement Agency at Plot No. 375.
The enforcement operation was carried out by a dedicated team that included the Assistant Director of Building Control, building inspectors, and other RDA officials. They were supported by personnel from Waris Khan and Banni police stations to ensure the operation proceeded without incident.
Property owners Muhammad Mushtaq and Mr. Shafiq were identified as the primary violators, having disregarded multiple warnings and notices issued by the RDA. Despite being instructed to halt construction, they continued to develop commercial buildings without securing the necessary approvals and No Objection Certificates (NOCs).
This crackdown serves as a stern reminder from the RDA that violations of urban planning laws will not be tolerated. The authority remains vigilant in its efforts to maintain the integrity of Rawalpindi’s development and will continue to take action against unauthorized constructions.
