One police official was killed while 17 other people were injured in the Quetta Blast that occurred near Balochistan University on city’s Sariab Road on Monday.
According to the details provided by the Balochistan Government Spokesperson Liaquat Shahwani, the explosion that rocked Quetta targeted a police truck deputed outside Balochistan University. The attackers used a motorcycle planted with an explosive device to carry out their attack. He added that those responsible for the Quetta Blast will be severely punished and brought to justice.

Home Minister Mir Ziaullah Langove said that police officials had been providing security to students protesting outside of Balochistan University when the blast took place. “The attackers wanted to target the students, but police officials were targeted due to tight security arrangements in place,” the minister said.
Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid has condemned the Quetta Blast and said that he had sought a report from the Balochistan IGP. “We will not allow terrorists to destroy the province’s peace. The federal government will provide resources and support to the provincial government,” he said.
