The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on Saturday announced that the Ramadan 2022 moon has been sighted and the first fast of the Holy Month will fall on Sunday (3 April 2022).
The announcement was made by Chairman Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabeer Azad from Peshawar, where he chaired the meeting to sight the Ramadan 2022 moon.
Meanwhile, the Zonal Committees of the central body met in their respective cities, including Lahore, Karachi, Islamabad, and Quetta.
It is pertinent to mention that the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) had also said that there was possibility to sight the Ramadan 2022 moon on April 2, 2022. “The new moon of Ramazan, 1,443 AH, will be born on [the] crossing conjunction point at 11-24 PST on 01-04-2022,” the statement said.
“According to astronomical parameters, there is a good chance of sighting the new moon of Ramazan, 1443 AH on the evening of [April 2] i.e. on 29th of Shaban, 1443 AH,” the statement added.
Since the Ramadan 2022 moon has been sighted today, Eid-ul-Fitr 2022 will be observed on 2 May 2022 or 3 May 2022 depending on the sighting of the next moon.
